Sinharaja Forest Reserve

This weekend we travelled to the jungle park, Sinharaja. Allegedly close to Galle – only 81 km, but still took over 3 hrs along some tiny roads and after a wrong turn by our taxi – thanks google maps, this national park is known for its biodiversity and has been awarded World Heritage status as a result.

We were the only people staying at a lovely peaceful lodge in a tea plantation, and on the afternoon of our arrival, we walked along quiet roads to visit a jungle temple.

The next morning we took an exciting tuk tuk ride along skinny shortcut paths to the National Park, where we did a 4 hr walk and had a refreshing swim under a waterfall. We saw lots of birds and reptiles and the boys got up close and personal with a few bugs -including leeches!
